Why We Built a Studio Where You Laugh So Hard You Cry.

Our Story: Welcome to Wicked Rae's

Wicked Rae's isn't just an art studio. It’s a rebellion against perfection. A sanctuary for the beautifully messy. A love letter to laughter, healing, and the radical act of being yourself.

We’re a mother-daughter duo who carried this dream across highways, heartbreaks, and healing. Through unexpected detours - from trauma to tech layoffs, single parenting to self-discovery - we learned that creativity isn’t just about art. It’s about survival. Joy. And coming home to yourself.

Oak and Bones

From Vermont to Seattle - with Bones-Fish in Tow

I'm Jules. I’ve worn many hats: artist, firefighter, sleep specialist, actor, program director, organizational psychologist. My daughter business partner, Oakley? She’s an intuitive textural artist who sees the world through color and laughter.

And then there’s Bones-Fish, our 10-year-old English Foxhound, a therapy dog with a PhD in emotional support and judgmental side-eyes, lol.

We met Bones at a shelter in Montpelier, Vermont. He was three months old and instantly told us (with a bark and a tail wag): “We’re a family now.” He’s been our co-pilot ever since.

The 12-Year Journey That Changed Everything

We didn’t set out to start a business. We set out to survive.

Over 12 years, we lived in more than 10 states and visited nearly all 50. From a 326-square-foot studio in San Francisco to tent camping under Utah stars, we healed through movement, nature, and connection.

We painted on porches, held sidewalk art shows, and whispered dreams out loud in national parks.

We made art to process. We laughed to cope. And we realized - what we craved didn’t exist. So we built it.

Wicked Rae's Was Born in the In-Between

In 2023, we planted roots in Seattle and opened Wicked Rae’s - a late-night splatter sanctuary, a haven for teams, couples, families, and humans who need to feel again.

Here, art isn’t about skill. It’s about soul.

Our sessions are built around psychological safety, sensory joy, and full-body expression. We help people remember how to play, how to connect, and how to show up as they are - paint-covered, loud-laughing, unfiltered.

We’ve seen corporate execs leave hugging their teammates. Kids with anxiety light up like galaxies. Parents witness their child’s real smile for the first time. We don’t take those moments for granted.

The Principle That Changed Everything

“The mess isn’t the problem. It’s where the magic hides.”

We believe your nervous system already holds the map. That joy is a muscle worth exercising. That laughter - especially in the face of hard things - is not frivolous. It’s revolutionary.

We don’t fix people. We create space for people to remember who they were before the world told them who to be.

Why We Laugh So Much (Even After Everything)

People ask: “How can you laugh so hard after all you’ve been through?”

Our answer?

Because we can.
Because we choose to.
Because laughter is our act of defiance, our medicine, and our way back to each other.

Wicked Rae’s is our living, breathing reminder that even in the darkest chapters, beauty can still be made. Together.

Our Why

We believe in…

🎨 Art as medicine
💛 Laughter as resilience
👣 Healing through movement, texture, and play
🌈 Spaces where every identity, story, and nervous system is welcome
🤝 The kind of community that remembers your name, your smile, and your story

So come as you are.
Make a mess.
Cry if you need to.
Laugh until you snort.

And walk out lighter than you came in.

We’re Wicked Rae’s. And we built this for you.
